Parking on Campus

Parking around Brown can be a challenge, so be sure to build extra time into your schedule to allow time to secure a space on campus. If you are staying in a nearby hotel, you may find the short and relatively inexpensive cab ride more convenient than parking a vehicle.

Visitor Parking Lot

The Brown University Visitor Parking Lot is located on Brook Street. The parking rate is per hour and you will need to have your parking pass validated by the Admission Office to obtain a discounted rate. Detailed directions to the visitor parking lot can be found by clicking on Directions and Accommodations.

On-Street Parking

Metered spaces are available on a number of streets near the Admission Office, including Angell Street, Waterman Street, and Prospect Street. Meters accept quarters only and are limited to two hours.

Visiting Groups

Groups of 20 or more must call the Visiting Group Coordinator at (401) 863-2378 at least two weeks in advance to reserve a day and time for their group visit.

We do not provide special tours for individual groups. Our Visiting Group Coordinator will incorporate your visit into our regular tour schedule and can help groups plan the best time to come to campus to ensure an enjoyable and productive visit.

Please note that we cannot accomodate special groups or tours on school vacation weeks as the number of visitors to campus is quite large and seating is limited.

Bus Parking

Buses coming to the Admission Office must park at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center. Buses are prohibited from parking or idling on the congested city streets surrounding the Admission Office. Maps directing bus drivers to appropriate parking locations are sent along with group reservation confirmations. They are also available at the front desk of the Admission Office. Group leaders need to be sure their bus driver is informed of parking procedures before they arrive.
