Brown - Tougaloo Faculty Fellows Program

Description

The Brown-Tougaloo Faculty Fellows Program is modeled after the Brown/Wheaton Faculty Fellows Program (http://gradschool.brown.edu/go/brownwheatonfellows). It is designed to offer advance graduate students from Brown the opportunity to teach courses in their academic fields and become immersed in faculty life. The purpose of the program is to: 1)support the Brown-Tougaloo Partnership through participation as a Fellow, 2) develop competency in undergraduate teaching, 3) experience a different academic and cultural community, and 4) contribute to the core curriculum at Tougaloo College.

Qualifications needed to participate in this program include: 1) advanced graduate student status at Brown with some teaching experience, 2) approval from the applicants program director, 3) approval and support from Tougaloo College, 4) identification of a mentor at Tougaloo.

The expectations of the program are: 1) Fellows will teach one undergraduate level course, 2) participate fully in the intellectual life of the academic institution, 3) take part in relevant teaching and learning workshops, 4) share in their on-going research with colleagues through lunch talks, panels on pertinent topics, presentations for departmental majors, or whatever format is most appropriate, and 5) meet regularly with their mentor.

Application

To apply for the Brown-Tougaloo Faculty Fellows Program, applicants must submit a cover letter, course proposal (not a full syllabus), CV, evidence of teaching experience, and evidence of approval and support from Tougaloo College, and the department's or program's Director of Graduate Study. Completed applications are due 3 months prior to the intended fellowship dates,and must be submitted to each institution.
