A Feast for the Winter-Weary Soul
Brown University's Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life is sponsoring a series of events from March 10 to 13 that promise to restore winter-weary souls. Programs will include lectures on spirituality, history, and prayer as well as music for the Byzantine church, classical organ, and gospel choir. Most events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise indicated. Please join us for this rich mixture of religious traditions!

“How to Be Human: An Historical Approach”—The 2006 Becket Lecture, with Felipe Fernández-Armesto, an internationally acclaimed historian and commentator and the Prince of Asturias Professor at Tufts University

“Byzantine Hymns of Great Lent and Holy Week,” a recital of Eastern Orthodox Sacred Chant in English, presented by the Boston Byzantine Choir, under the direction of Charles R. Marge

“The Contemplative Dimensions of the Gospels,” a workshop retreat with Abbot Thomas Keating, OCSO, a founder of the Centering Prayer Movement and Contemplative Outreach
PLEASE NOTE: Online registration required prior to workshop, visit Brown's Contemplative Studies Initiative website. Lunch is included. $10 registration fee to be paid at the time of the retreat, either by check (made out to “ Brown University”) or in cash. Because of space limitations, members of the Brown/RISD communities will be given priority for registration.
