The Talking Book: African Americans and the Bible
Now Available

On Thursday, May 3, the Rev. Dr. Allen Dwight Callahan, associate chaplain of Brown University and an ordained Baptist minister, presented his latest work titled The Talking Book: African Americans and the Bible. After the talk, he signed copies of the book, which is currently on sale at the Brown Bookstore or online at Amazon.com. The event took place in Petteruti Lounge, Faunce House, The College Green.

Published by Yale University Press, The Talking Book has already been receiving praise. E. J. Dionne of the Washington Post stated, “Callahan's remarkable book...

Callahan joined the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life in the fall of 2005 as interim associate chaplain of the University to the Protestant community and was named associate chaplain this past fall. From January through April, he was on leave to teach. He holds a doctorate from Harvard Divinity School and is considered one of this country's leading scholars on early Christianity. In addition to his duties at Brown University, he also teaches New Testament at the Seminário Teológico Batista do Nordeste in Bahia, Brazil. Read a full biography about Allen D.
