Weddings and Blessing Ceremonies Guide
Introduction Letter from the Chaplain of the University
For 173 years, Manning Chapel has presided graciously over the Main Green of Brown University and has strengthened the prayers of people of all faiths and backgrounds. We are honored that you are considering Manning as the place for your ceremony.
All Brown students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as individuals from outside the Brown community, are welcome to inquire about reserving the chapel.
The information that follows will supply many details regarding the chapel's capacity, the policies that govern its use, and the applicable fees. This material will introduce you to the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life (OCRL) staff who handle reservations. It specifies both what support Brown is able to provide for these occasions and outlines what you are obliged to arrange independently.
Please read all the information below before proceeding to complete an application. All necessary forms are available online at this site in pdf format and may be downloaded and printed. These forms may also be requested from the OCRL office as directed below.
Manning Chapel has embraced the Brown family in times of joy and times of sorrow for nearly two centuries. We look forward to the opportunity to explore with you further the appropriateness of this tranquil campus location for your ceremony.
If you have further questions after you review these materials, you may contact the OCRL office via email: OCRLweddings@brown.edu or call 401.863.2344.
Sincerely,
The Rev. Janet Cooper Nelson, Chaplain of the University
