Getting Started
Planning successful events, from a simple meeting to a several day conference, takes forethought and time and can require many months of planning and coordination. Brown University Conference Services has put together a few simple tools to assist you as you begin your planning process:
Our Conference Planning Worksheet is a list of questions that helps you to think through all of the logistical aspects of your conference as you begin to plan your event. (Also available as a Word Document: [.DOC])
The Conference Planning Checklist is a chronological checklist that helps keep you on track in your planning process from start to finish, beginning over one year out.) (Also available as a Word Document [DOC])
We recommend that you contact the University Scheduling Office before inviting speakers or making other arrangements to ensure that the space you are hoping to use can be available for you. You may also wish to consult a list of Date and Time Considerations to be sure that your plans do not conflict with other University-wide events.
Additionally, members of the Brown community may also wish to consult the "Getting Started" section of the Event Planning at Brown website for further guidance on planning on-campus events.
