Fall 2008
Students who have been admitted as Special Students for the Fall or Spring Semester are required to schedule a twenty-minute advising appointment with Summer and Continuing Studies prior to the start of classes. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the proposed program of study and to finalize registration paperwork. Students might also need to consult with the appropriate faculty.
Special Students must contact Lianne Mendonca (Lianne_Mendonca@brown.edu) at the Office of Summer and Continuing Studies to schedule an appointment for either Wednesday, August 27, 2008 or Thursday, August 28, 2008 between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Walk-ins will be seen on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 between 9:00am and 5:00pm on a first-come first-served basis.
After your meeting in Summer & Continuing Studies, you must obtain the signature of the instructor on the form we give you. All classes, whether taken for credit or audit, require signed permission from the instructor. Please keep in mind that registration in some courses is limited because of space. Special Students register after matriculating students and, ALL Special Students must obtain the instructor’s permission no later than the first day of class in order to finalize their registration. The Brown University Online Course Catalog (BANNER) will indicate which courses have limited enrollment.
Once you have the signature of the instructor, please go to the Registrar’s Office to submit your course choice(s). The Registrar's Office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 – 5 p.m.
Please note that the Registrar’s Office is now located in the J. Walter Wilson Student Services building, 69 Brown Street (on the corner of Brown and Waterman Streets).
At the time of registration, you will be asked to pay the balance of tuition ($4,616 per course) to the University Bursar's Office. All payments must be made by check payable to Brown University.
Housing is not available during the Fall and Spring semesters, but is available on a first-come, first-served basis during the Summer term.
Study at the University is governed by the academic and social policies stipulated in the Brown University Academic Code and Non-Academic Conduct policy.
