Concept Proposals
The Office of Summer & Continuing Studies provides a variety of teaching opportunities in a wide range of programs throughout the year. Faculty, graduate students, adjuncts and staff with instructional training are welcomed to propose course ideas and to apply for teaching positions. You may submit more than one course concept, but please use a separate form for each.
Please be sure to complete all parts of the preliminary proposal before submitting. Proposals are intended to be the first step in developing a course and the proposal functions like a course description.
1. Preliminary course concepts may be submitted at any time-early submission and discussion with a curriculum developer at SCS is encouraged
2. If the proposed concept is accepted a final description, suitable for a catalog and website publication, a course outline/syllabus and a department endorsement must be submitted.
Please note: all graduate students must have an endorsement from their department’s Director of Graduate Study (and from their Department Chair if the course is credit bearing) at the time they submit a final description and outline.
3. Complete descriptions and course outlines for Winter/January and the
Spring Continuing Studies term must be submitted by the preceding
September 1st.
4. Complete descriptions and course outlines for Summer courses must be
submitted by the preceding November 1st.
5. Complete descriptions and course outlines for the Fall Continuing
Studies term must be submitted by the preceding April 1st.
Early submissions create a better opportunity for you to have your proposal
reviewed and considered.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with you ideas and we look forward to working with you.
