Cellular Telephones and Mobile PDAs (Blackberry)

Cellular phone may be an allowable expense if used for University business only, subject to approval by the department head. Such phones should be purchased through the Computing & Information Services department and meet the requirements set forth in their application form. The costs associated with personal cell phones are not allowable costs for reimbursement by the University.
The purchase and use of wireless pda’s, such as a Blackberry, requires prior approval from a senior officer, or their designee. Employee must provide documentation for business use and demonstrate continued need on an annual basis.
Home Internet Charges
Home internet charges are not allowable unless the responsibility of the position is to maintain, monitor, and support a departmental computing environment and internet access is required or the employee works from home at Brown’s request and internet access is required.
