Concentration Declaration Form

The Concentration Declaration form is a written proposal that outlines your major objectives in choosing a concentration, and asks you to list the specific courses you will take to satisfy its requirements.  This proposal functions as a kind of contract and is signed jointly by you and the concentration advisor for the relevant department or program.  Once the contract has been signed, the departmental concentration advisor becomes your main point of contact for this aspect of your academic program.  You will want, of course, to complement the focused guidance you receive from the departmental concentration advisor with your broader network of advisors, who can help you to envision how the concentration you are choosing is part of a considered plan of liberal education that extends beyond your four years at Brown.

You may pick up a copy of the Concentration Declaration form at the Registrar’s Office, which is located on the 3rd floor of J. Walter Wilson Hall (at the corner of Waterman and Brown Streets). Or you may download the form by clicking here.  The academic deans in University Hall are available to answer any questions you have about selecting and declaring a concentration. Deans’ open hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
