Getting to Know Faculty, End of Pre-Reg, Research & Fellowship Fair
Dear First-Years,
This week’s email puts the spotlight on something every Brown student should cultivate during his or her time here: close interaction with one or more than one faculty member. We also remind you that the last day to pre-register for Semester II courses is next Tuesday, and we preview the upcoming Undergraduate Research and Fellowship Fair.
* Getting to Know Faculty *
It's time to begin thinking about one of the great treasures of your college education: the opportunity to get to know some of the amazing people who teach you. Studies show that building relationships with professors enhances learning and deepens satisfaction with your education. So it’s well worth your while to push past your hesitations and go see faculty in their office hours. Have a question about the course material? Interested in a topic or area of research that relates to your professor’s scholarly work? Curious to know how she or he decided to become a college professor? These are all good starting points for a conversation of substance, whether you are acing a class or having a lot of trouble with it.
* Pre-Registration Ends *
Pre-reg for Semester II courses closes at 5:00 p.m. this Tuesday, November 8. If you haven’t yet pre-registered, now is the time to do so!
* Undergraduate Research and Fellowship Fair : "Follow your passions beyond the Classroom" *
Thursday, November 10, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Sayles Hall, Brown University
