Final Exam Policy and Meiklejohn survey
Dear first-years,
Congratulations on surviving your first pre-reg period at Brown, and welcome to the final stretch of the semester. Classes end on Wednesday, December 7, and finals run from December 16-21. These last weeks of the semester can be particularly stressful! So if you’re feeling overwhelmed or distressed, come see a dean. Deans of the College have open hours Monday through Friday from 10-4 pm and Deans of Student Life see students daily by appointment.
* Final Exam Policy *
Final exam dates are fixed by the Registrar and students are required to take their exams at the designated times. Students are excused from exams only for family or medical emergencies. (Note that travel plans are never an excuse for missing a final exam.) Deans Stephen Lassonde, Kathleen McSharry, and Carol Cohen are the deans authorized to grant exam excuses; in emergency situations, students must contact one of these deans, who will determine whether or not an exam excuse is warranted. Course instructors are notified of exam excuses granted by the Dean of the College Office.
* Meiklejohn Survey *
Please take a moment between now and Thanksgiving break to fill out a survey about your advising experience with your Meiklejohn(s). This link will take you to the survey, which is completely confidential: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/88BYTFH.
* TWC Thanksgiving supper *
Those who are staying on campus for the upcoming holiday are warmly invited to join fellow Brown students and staff for the Third World Center Thanksgiving supper, on November 24 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the TWC. The deadline to RSVP is Thursday, November 17 at noon, but they will take comers as space allows: http://www.brown.edu/twc.
