Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS)

Brown's Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) provides a full continuum of support for international students studying at Brown. On behalf of the University, OISSS issues applicable documents to international students and guides them through processes such as immigration, employment, taxation, social security card and driver’s license applications, all of which require interaction with various governmental agencies. In addition, OISSS helps international students navigate the geography and culture of the University and explore the many places and ways of life that make the United States unique.

OISSS is a resource for international students as soon as they are admitted and sponsors informational programs throughout the year. The Office works with the International House of Rhode Island, whose program activities include a weekly lunch for international students, scholars, and their families, and regular social activities.

International students are encouraged to stop by OISSS for brief consultations Monday through Thursday afternoons, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., or to schedule an appointment by calling 863-2427. Visit the OISSS website for more information, including a calendar of upcoming events.
