Funding for DUGs |
|
Each DUG is eligible for annual funding of up to $1000: $500 from a department will be matched by $500 from the Office of the Dean of the College. To apply for funds, the group must have the following: (a) at least one student leader, (b) a faculty sponsor, and (c) a list of activities to be funded for the year. Awesome! How do I receive these funds? A student leader from each DUG must submit a letter that requests funding (specify amount), lists events, and provides a budget for the academic year. In addition, the DUG's faculty sponsor, or department chair, must submit a written request stating the amount of departmental funds for which the DUG is requesting matching funds along with the departmental account number. Please contact Dean Besenia Rodriguez at Besenia_Rodriguez@brown.edu or call 863-2411 for more information. Are there any requirements for DUGs who want to receive funds? Every DUG is expected to hold at least two events each semester and no fewer than four per academic year. One of these events, taking place in April, should be an open house for prospective concentrators. Another event might celebrate the completion of senior capstone projects and honors theses. The Curricular Resource Center can assist DUGs with the planning and implementation of these events. Please consult Peggy Chang, Director of the CRC, or Darcy Pinkerton and Minoo Ramanathan, CRC DUG Co-Coordinators to record and plan your DUG event.
