Getting Started on Your IC |
Begin by writing down your ideas for an independent concentration. Go through Brown’s Course Announcement Bulletin to generate ideas for courses you might take. Look through the "Guide to Independent Concentrations" and browse the CRC’s archive of successful independent concentration proposals. Then, discuss your ideas with as many people as possible. Professors who have inspired you or who teach courses you may want to take, classmates, TAs, concentration advisors, and Curricular Resource Center staff are all good bets for stimulating discussion. As you speak with professors, consider which ones might be able to serve as your faculty sponsor. He or she must be interested in your ideas, supportive of the project, and have time to meet with you regularly. Contact Dean Besenia Rodriguez to discuss your plans or to ask for help or information (call 863-2315 to set up an appointment). |
