First-Year Advising Schedule 2009-2010
Students need a strong network of advisors and mentors to take full advantage of Brown's open academic culture. By meeting with your advisees at regular intervals, you will help them develop the habit of seeking advice from a variety of advisors and mentors.
The calendar of meetings below is designed to ensure that your advisees discuss their academic plans with you at key times of the year. You may want your advisees to communicate more frequently with you via email or by coming to your open hours.
Tuesday, September 8, 2009
- 9:30 a.m., Group Meeting with first-year advisees & Meiklejohn
- 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., First individual meetings with first-year advisees
- 5:00-11:59 p.m., On-line registration for first-year students
Wednesday, September 9
- Classes Begin for Semester I
Monday-Friday, September 14-25
- Second individual meetings with first-year advisees
Tuesday, September 22
- Last day to add a course without a fee.
Tuesday, October 6
- Last day to add a course, change from audit to credit, or change a grade option.
Friday, October 16
- Mid-semester deadline.
- Last day to change from credit to audit in a course.
Monday-Friday, October 19-30
- Third individual meeting with first-year advisees (Pre-registration for Semester II)
Tuesday-Tuesday, November 3-10
- Registration for Semester II
Wednesday, January 27, 2010
- Classes Begin for Semester II
Wed-Tues, January 27-February 9
- Fourth Individual Meeting with First-Year Advisees
Tuesday, February 9
- Last date to add a course without a fee
