Brown among top U.S. producers of Fulbrights

Brown ranks third among research universities in the country and the first among the Ivies in the number of Fulbright fellowships awarded for 2009-2010 according to data announced by the Fulbright program yesterday.  Brown had 29 Fulbright winners last year, the highest number in its history. The success of the top producing institutions is highlighted in the October 19, 2009 edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education.

The 29 recipients were selected from among 106 applications from Brown, giving the university the top spot among Ivy League schools for the most students receiving Fulbright awards this year.  With the Fulbright program, 27 recent graduates and two graduate students are currently studying overseas in 23 countries.

This news arrived as the offices of Dean of the College and the Dean of the Graduate School finalized the applications for their 2010-2011 candidates.  82 undergraduates and 14 graduate students submitted their applications yesterday for this year's Fulbright competition.
