Undergraduate Student Orientation 2008
Brown University’s Orientation is a collaborative effort of the offices of the Dean of the College and of Campus Life and Student Services. Every part of our campus community - the faculty, staff, and a legion of student peer advisors including the Orientation Welcoming Committee (OWC) - is looking forward to welcoming you to Brown, whether as a first-year student, a transfer or visiting student, or as a Resumed Undergraduate Education student.
Orientation is planned with four primary goals in mind:
- To help you learn about the nature of liberal education at Brown;
- To familiarize you with Brown’s campus environment and the various offices, resources, clubs and activities;
- To facilitate getting to know your classmates;
- To introduce you to Brown’s expectations about how to live and learn as individuals while respecting others in your new community.
Here are some helpful dates for your calendar:
Pre-Orientation Programs in which students may elect to participate will begin several days prior to Orientation.

| First-year Orientation begins | Saturday night, August 30, 2008 |
| Classes begin | Wednesday, September 3, 2008 |
During these beginning days, you have a unique chance to learn about the extraordinary academic and co-curricular opportunities here at Brown, and to come to understand the importance of community involvement and personal responsibility.
