UTRA Programs

UTRA is the umbrella term for collaborative work with a faculty member. UTRAs provide students with opportunities to work closely in research situations with faculty members, to participate integrally in the process of course development and revision, and to experience the work of college directly. These collaborative projects can benefit students in several important ways: they provide valuable academic training, they give students a window onto central professional activities of a scholar/teacher, they allow them to test their interest in pursuing an academic career, and they contribute to research and to improving the curriculum..

to Odyssey Seminar

UTRA supports collaborative research and teaching activities between faculty members and students in all academic disciplines through fellowships held in the summer or during the semester.

to Odyssey Seminar Research between student and faculty where the student participates integrally in, and often initiates, the process of course development and revision.

to Hughes Collaborative research projects with a faculty member specifically in the biomedical sciences.

to Library Collection Projects Research projects in connection with University library collections working together with a librarian and a faculty member.

to Public Service UTRA Fellowships that integrate public service perspectives into existing courses.

to International UTRA Collaborative research projects in which both the student and faculty member will be together at an international site.

to Manchester GrantA summer fellowship in Dublin, Ireland, working with the National Women's Research Council.

to TeamUTRA

Team UTRAs are small group projects where two or more students work with a faculty member specifically because each member of the team contributes distintive knowledge or skills needed for the research.
