Application Process
The Brown Medical School Residency Program in Emergency Medicine, a four-year residency program, offers only PGY-1 positions through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Please be sure to register for the match. Our match number is 1677110C0.
All applications are handled through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We do NOT accept paper applications in our office. If you are not familiar with the ERAS process, please contact your Dean's office or ECFMG.
Our program identification number from the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for use with ERAS is 1104321114.
Only completed applications will be given consideration for an interview. Interviews are by invitation only and are a prerequisite for matching to our program. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule in arranging an interview.

A fourth-year medical school rotation/clerkship through our emergency department is strongly encouraged. At the very least, students should complete a rotation through a hospital emergency department. Please refer to the medical student clerkship elective page for more information.

- Personal statement
- Dean's Letter
- Official transcript from your medical school
- Passing board scores on USMLE Step 1 (over 200 preferred).
