Brown Emergency Medicine Residency
Thank you for your interest in the Brown Medical School Residency Program in Emergency Medicine. Our PGY-1 to PGY-4 program is primarily affiliated with Rhode Island Hospital, a regional tertiary care academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center. Rhode Island Hospital is the busiest Emergency Department in New England. Our residents also rotate at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, and Women and Infants Hospital, each of which boasts superb clinical and educational opportunities.
Mission
Our mission is to provide resident physicians with the highest quality education in Emergency Medicine. Our goal is to develop emergency physicians with exceptional compassion and knowledge, and who will provide superior medical care. We seek to instill in our residents the highest professional standards as clinicians, scholars, and leaders in the field of Emergency Medicine.
Objectives
- To provide a strong academic basis in Emergency Medicine and prepare physicians for leadership positions.
- To equip physicians with the clinical, behavioral and critical thinking skills needed to render quality health care to all patients in any setting.
- To instill the habits of life-long learning.
- To develop a commitment to the training of future Emergency Physicians and to furthering the scientific basis of medical knowledge.
