Additional Safety and Risk Considerations
SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted in any University building or within 35 feet of an entrance to a University building. Please reference Human Resources Policy and Residential Life Policy for more information.
Contract Review
Student organizations must process their contracts through the Student Activities Office. Departments should contact the General Counsel's Office for assistance. Please keep in mind that only those with appropriate signature authority may sign contracts on behalf of the University; if you aren't sure you have such authority, please consult the General Counsel's Office.
Liability waivers
Depending on the nature of your activity, you may want (or need) participants to submit waiver forms. Student organizations should contract the Student Activities Office. Departments should contact the General Counsel's Office for assistance.
Insurance and risk
The Office of Insurance and Risk can assist you in a variety of ways, including:
- Determing insurance requirements for your event.
- Certificates of Insurance: if you are planning on off-campus event or contracting with various vendors, you may need to provide proof of insurance.
