Welcome to the Transportation Bulletin Board!
The Transportation Office has received many requests for a Transportation Bulletin Board at which Brown community members can swap parking lot assignments or reach out to other Brown community members to form or join a carpool. In response, a forum has been created to assist with your transportation needs.
Swap Parking Lot Assignments
Has your physical work location changed since you first received your parking lot assignment? Do you park at the OMAC while your office is located at Wayland? There may be someone with the opposite problem — parking in the Power St. garage with an office on Lloyd Ave.
The Transportation Bulletin Board was created to easily assist with lot assignment swapping.
- Enter the Forum by entering your Brown username and password in the authentication screen. It is not necessary to create an account within the forum - you may post as a guest user if you so choose.
- Click the Parking Permit Trading link, then New Topic, and enter your Brown email address, your current lot, and your desired lot or area.
- Once you are satisfied with your posting, click Submit and you’re finished. Be on the lookout for an email from another parker willing to swap assignments.
- Be sure to scan the other posts for possible swapping options.
Once you have located someone to swap with, BOTH of you must proceed to the Parking Office located at 75 Charlesfield Street with your parking permit/hangtag in order to complete the swap. Please call the Parking Office at 863-3157 with any questions.

Carpool Forum
With rising energy costs, you may want to consider carpooling. The Brown Carpool Forum was created to allow you to contact other Brown community members in order to form or join a carpool.
- Enter the Forum by entering your Brown username and password in the authentication screen. It is not necessary to create an account within the forum - you may post as a guest user if you so choose.
- Click the Brown Carpool Forum link, then New Topic, and enter your Brown email address, your starting location, possible hours of travel to and from Brown, and whether you are a driver, rider, either, both, etc.
- Once you are satisfied with your posting, click Submit and you’re finished. Be on the lookout for an email from another community member in your area who would like to carpool.
- Be sure to scan the other posts for carpooling options.
- If you don’t find anyone in your area on the Brown-only forum, check out the RIPTA Alternet carpool service.
Once you have located someone to carpool with, visit the Carpooling webpage for detailed information regarding carpool parking, registering your carpool, and the Guaranteed Ride Home program.
