Faces of Brown is an occasional feature to introduce the Brown community to colleagues
Working here since: 1986 at Brown; 1987 at Police and Security
Pride and joy: My nieces and nephew - Stephanie, Nicholas and Allison (below)
What attracted you to Brown? My sister was working here at the time and
encouraged me to apply. I started working in fall 1986 as a temporary employee
at Health Services, then moved to Police and Security in August 1987.
Worst part of your job? In our line of work, we never know what to expect so
sometimes I come in and have to read about an unfortunate incident with a
student. Even though I might not know the student personally, it still causes
me great concern.
What is the best part of your job? Besides Friday afternoons at 4:30 p.m., the
people I interact with on a daily basis.
What is the worst stereotype that folks have of this department? That we aren't
a real police department. Although the stereotype is often not spefically
addressed to me it is addressed to our department and it often insults the
level of professionalism that exists.
If you could change one thing about your job what would you change? I would be
"The Woman in Charge."
What has been one of the highlights during your time with Police and Security?
Brown Says Thank You Award and Years of Service Award. For Brown Says Thank You
[May 8, 1996], it was nice to get nominated and then recognized for all the
hard work you do.
