2. The provost reviews the self-studies, selects the external departmental reviewers from the recommended names, appoints an executive group to prepare an overall report on the cluster, and supplies all reviewers with copies of the appropriate self-studies well in advance of the visit. 3. The site visit occurs. [Time allotted: three days]
4. The reviewers write and submit their reports. [Time allotted: up to 2 months]
5. The provost receives and reviews the report then distributes it to each department. The departments discuss the reports and prepare a response. [Time allotted: up to 6 months]
6. The Academic Priorities Subcommittee, consisting of two people from each of the major divisions, considers the review and the department's response and makes a recommendation to the Academic Council. [Time allotted: 1 to 4 months]
7. The department then receives a detailed letter from the Academic Council about priorities for the next five years and develops a strategic plan based on those priorities. [Time allotted: Several months. There may be several iterations.]
