Read any good books lately? Share your book recommendations with other Brunonians by sending e-mail to Events@brown.edu. Be sure to include your name, your title and department, the name of the book and author, and your brief critique. This week's page turners are:

Karl Jacoby, assistant professor, history (left)

• "A River Running West: The Life of John Wesley Powell" by Donald Worster: "The first new biography of John Wesley Powell — the man who explored the Grand Canyon and helped found American anthropology — in almost half a century, written by a master historian."

Robert Stoner, adjunct assistant professor (research), engineering

• "The Water in Between: A Journey at Sea" by Kevin Patterson: "This is a well-written book and would appeal to any undergraduate … and most professors too." The book is a memoir of Patterson's adventures traversing the Pacific in a 37-foot sailboat.
