Page Turners

Read any good books lately? Share your book recommendations with other Brunonians by sending e-mail to Events@brown.edu. Be sure to include your name, your title and department, the name of the book and author, and your brief critique. This week's page turners are members of the graduating Class of 2002:

Cristina Bonuso, Class of 2002, concentrating in business economics and Italian studies

The Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. “The series is so utterly entertaining, perhaps because you want so badly to be part of it. The wonderful part is that the world of Harry Potter actually could exist without us knowing it, according to the stories. However, I definitely do not think that it is worth it to read any one book by itself, out of order. It will not even come close to creating the community and continuity created by reading the books in a series.

Eric Mueller, Class of 2002, concentrating in public and private-sector organizations

“Ulysses” by James Joyce. “Spend a day in Dublin. Its mythological themes are as relevant for the dawn of this century as they were for the last. Great summer read. The longest sentence I've ever encountered!”
