Page Turners

Read any good books lately? Share your book recommendations with other Brunonians by sending e-mail to Events@brown.edu. Be sure to include your name, your title and department, the name of the book and author, and your brief critique. This week's page turners are:

Shelton

Mark Shelton, reference librarian

“Man and Boy” by Tony Parsons. “This is a very well-written book that brings the emotions of the characters to life. It does a great job of characterizing the relationship that a man has with his father while he himself is trying to be a father to a boy. You feel how tough it is to be perfect in your child's eyes, while always feeling inferior to your own father.”

Engels

Tim Engels, senior library associate specialist

“Which Side Are You On? Trying to Be for Labor When It’s Flat on Its Back” by Thomas Geoghegan. “This is an impassioned account of the career of a young labor lawyer and reformer faced with both union corruption and the anti-labor bias in current U.S. law. A bit self-indulgent in places, but always thoughtful.”
