Good Health Benefit ®

OVERVIEW

The University is working with Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI (BCBSRI) in offering the Good Health Benefit® (GHB)* to all active Brown employees, regardless of health plan status (including the health insurance buyout). The GHB is a BCBSRI initiative to provide resources, motivation, and support for Rhode Island residents to lead healthier lives. Expert consultants, including registered dieticians, clinicians, physicians, and certified specialists deliver programs that help employees stay informed.

The GHB program at Brown University has been customized to address major health promotion and wellness issues that have been identified in aggregate as significant to the general health and well-being of Brown employees. GHB program coordinators will provide intervention programs that may address general health topics such as relaxation, stress management, smoking cessation, nutrition, or weight management. Personal health program topics may include prenatal education, self-care, or cancer issues. The GHB provides these programs to Brown employees either at no expense or at a nominal fee.

Employee participation in program activities is voluntary, and all individual participant information is, and will remain, personal and confidential; it will never be shared with Brown University.

WELLNESS CLINICS

The Wellness Clinics are part of the comprehensive worksite wellness program being sponsored by the Good Health Benefit® (GHB) and Brown University. The clinics are designed to increase health awareness among Brown employees while enabling GHB Program Coordinators to identify specific needs and interests.

If you decide to participate in a Clinic, you will be invited to complete a confidential Personal Health Assessment (PHA) questionnaire, participate in health screenings (e.g., glucose [blood sugar], blood pressure, and cholesterol) and receive a personal health risk analysis. You may also be asked to complete a Health Interest Survey to help program professionals determine program preferences with respect to health topics.

PROGRAM EVALUATION

In order to ensure the effectiveness of specific programs, each program is evaluated by participants upon conclusion for content, timeliness, and speaker proficiency.

CONFIDENTIALITY

No personally identifiable information collected from individual Brown employees will ever be shared with Brown University. The individual information you provide to the GHB will always remain confidential. Once it is collected, data will be aggregated for the sole purpose of creating future intervention programs.
