Make a Difference on Staff Development Day!


SAC Collections

The President’s Staff Advisory Committee will again sponsor 2 will again sponsor two public service projects to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and Crossroads Rhode Island. They need your help on Staff Development Day!

The Rhode Island Community Food Bank works to ensure that every Rhode Islander has access to the healthy, nutritious food they need. This year, the Food Bank needs:

  • Canned soups, tuna, meat, beans, fruits & vegetables
  • Peanut butter
  • Breakfast cereals, whole wheat pasta & brown rice
  • Boxed macaroni & cheese
  • Crackers, granola bars, cheese & cracker packages
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Please Note: Expiration dates should not be over 6 months. No glass jars or baby food, please.

Crossroads Rhode Island is a national leader in providing a continuum of care to the homeless. Formerly Traveler's Aid, the items most needed by Crossroads include:

  • Soap & shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste & toothbrushes
  • Shaving cream & razors
  • Lotions
  • Diapers
  • New towels & facecloths

You can make a donation as an individual, or be a team leader and get your department involved! Please solicit and collect the non-perishable food and/or personal care items listed above from your department colleagues!

SAC will have a collection table in Sayles Hall from 8:00 am - 11:00 am; there will also be a collection table under Wayland Arch in Wriston Quad beginning at 11:30am. With your help, these projects are bound to be successful!

Make a Difference Track

Register for these community service workshops and make a difference on Staff Development Day! In just 3 sessions you will work for local organizations in need, make blankets for Hasbro Hospital, and design a card for a family at the Ronald McDonald House!

Morning Session 1: Putting Your Skills to Work
Morning Session 2: No Sew Blankies!
Afternoon Session: Rubber Stamping

Got Soda?

Again this year, soda can tabs will be collected at the barbecue to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Providence. Remember to drop your tabs in the collection cups located on each table!
