OLR is primarily responsible for negotiating and administering the University’s four collective bargaining agreements. Brown currently works with 3 unions representing 4 bargaining units on campus.

The United Service and Allied Workers – RI (USAW) represents the custodial and trades bargaining unit which consists of approximately 240 full-time custodians, trades, and grounds workers. USAW also represents approximately 95 full and part-time clerical and technical staff employed at the University’s libraries. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 615, represents approximately 180 employees, including food service workers, helpers, cooks, bakers and lead persons assigned to the University's various dining facilities.
