Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®- Identifying type

The Center for Staff Learning and Professional Development offers Brown employees the opportunity to participate in workshops using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®. The MBTI® is a self-report questionnaire that helps participants determine how they perceive information and make decisions. Understanding how individuals differ in their natural strengths, motivations and communication styles can help with an individual's personal growth and ability to function effectively in the workplace.

MBTI® introductory sessions are offered to help participants identify their "best-fit" type. After understanding the fundamentals of type, other courses are available to look at type and communications, leadership and team building.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Step II®

The MBTI Step II looks at the familiar four letter MBTI types and shows twenty ways in which that type is expressed.  It is useful to help people identify the uniqueness of their expression of type or when someone is unsure of one of their preferences.  During the session, we will learn about the 20 facets of the MBTI preference dichotomies.  We will discuss how differences in type can provide information about the strengths and opportunities for individuals or members of a team.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®- The Communication Wheel

Effective two-way communication skills can be developed by understanding how people naturally communicate. This session begins by looking at the process of communication and the obstacles that impede mutual understanding. Participants will explore a model of communication based on the MBTI® psychological types and will have the opportunity to practice different techniques for improving communication at work (and at home). The pre-requisite for this course is the MBTI® Introductory Session- Determining Type.

These workshops runs for one half day. Classes are posted on training.brown.edu and announced in Morning Mail. The workshops may also be run by request for interested departments.
