Getting Your Point Across: Assertive Speaking Skills
Do you feel that you get your point across clearly and effectively? Asserting yourself is the key to effectively communicating your facts, opinions, thoughts and needs. To do so, one must develop a full repertoire of assertive speaking strategies. This session will begin with a discussion of the benefits of the assertive communication style and then focus on a 3-step process for creating and delivering an assertive message. Participants will also learn how to effectively give and receive constructive feedback. The workshop will be filled with numerous opportunities for participants to employ and practice these assertive speaking techniques.
The program consists of one half day session and is presented by the Center for Staff Learning & Professional Development. Classes are posted on training.brown.edu. If you do not see a scheduled class, check back!
