Valuing Differences- Diversity Workshop
The Center for Staff Learning and Professional Development and the Office for Equal Employment Opportunity & Affirmative Action are offering a Diversity Workshop featuring Sharon Chancellor from Chancellor HRD. Valuing Differences has been designed to enhance participants’ valuing of differences. The session will explore personal and group differences, including an experience in feeling different and will examine how people and organizations tend to stay within their comfort zone in dealing with people and situations that are different. We will discuss Dominant and Subordinate groups and the dynamics that establish and sustain barriers between us.
An important feature of this training is that it heightens awareness of diversity issues without making participants feel that they are being corrected or re mediated. The training does not make participants feel guilty or inadequate or that they have been “doing it all wrong” all these years.
The workshop runs for one half day. Classes are posted on training.brown.edu and announced in Morning Mail.
