FOR Managers
Managing Resources
Overview
What we do in Compensation and Organizational Services:
- Work collaboratively with leadership and management groups-HRAB, Administrative Leadership Group, Finance and Administration Executive Team to discuss how Brown’s policies and practices can better support working at Brown.
- Conduct studies on a University & department wide basis to provide information and analysis to support decision-making.
- Support division wide changes to better understand how resources could be more effectively distributed.
- Consult with chairs, department heads and managers to develop more effective organizational structures, work flow and systems including the use of technology.
- Advise on job description development, and evaluate jobs to determine the relative value of those jobs and assign job grades. We have developed tools to simplify developing job descriptions and manage the Job Audit Program—
- Advise managers on determining appropriate salaries and increases for staff using market data and salary survey data– the same data is used to support setting the new salary ranges.
- Manage the Annual Salary Increase Process and Bonus Awards.
- Manage compliance with the Federal Wage and hour laws to ensure that staff who work in excess of 37.5 hours (or over 40 Hours is they work a 40 hour work week) are paid overtime.
