2008-9 as the year of Providence as a Global City

Brown will convene a series of conversations through courses, seminars, conferences and new public service engagements that explore Providence from an international perspective. An initiative arising from the collaboration of the Urban Studies Program, the Office of International Affairs and the Office of the Vice Presentt for Research, this year long program of events will study the political, social, environmental and economic impact of globalization in Providence. We will convene leaders in academia, government and business to examine the complex policy challenges that result, and explore comparative studies with other cities around the globe.
