John Hazen White Sr. Lecture

New York Times political correspondent will speak about 1996 elections

Richard Berke, national political correspondent for the New York Times, will lecture on "Understanding the 1996 Elections" Monday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Richard Berke, national political correspondent for the New York Times, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, on "Understanding the 1996 Elections." His lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be in Room 168 of the Barus & Holley Building, 184 Hope St.

Berke has been a New York Times reporter for 10 years and has covered Congress and the White House. He has spent the last few months covering the 1996 elections. Before joining the Times, he worked for five years at the Baltimore Sun.

Berke received his B.A. in political science from the University of Michigan in 1980 and his M.A. in journalism from Columbia University in 1981.

This lecture is part of the John Hazen White Sr. Lecture Series, endowed by a local businessman. It is sponsored by the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University.
