Eleanor McMahon


Eleanor McMahon has been a distinguished visiting professor of Public Policy at the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Public Policy and American Institutions at Brown University since 1989. She previously was a visiting professor in the Department of Government at Georgetown University and provost and distinguished professor at Rhode Island College. From 1982 to 1989, McMahon served as the commissioner of higher education for the State of Rhode Island, and in that capacity initiated a number of important programs, including the "Governor's Technology in Education Initiative." She currently is serving as a senior consultant to the New Jersey Commission of Higher Education, as a member of the Rhode Island Goals 2000 panel, and as a member and secretary of the Rhode Island Skills Commission.
