School Superintendent Search Committee announces public meetings

The Search Committee for the next superintendent of Providence public schools will hold public meetings March 23, 24, and 25, 1999, to gather views of the Providence community. A survey will also be distributed to gather additional information for the search.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Search Committee for the next superintendent of Providence public schools has announced a series of three public meetings to gather views from a broad cross-section of the Providence community.

The meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on the following dates:

Persons attending the meetings will be asked to focus on two questions: What would you like the Providence Public Schools to look like in the next five years? and What are the top three areas that the new superintendent should focus on improving? American Sign Language, Spanish, Cambodian, Laotian, Hmong, and Cape Verdean translators will be present at all meetings.

The Search Committee will also distribute a survey by mail, through various community organizations, at a Web site and at the public meetings.
