Memorial service for Elizabeth J. Cronin set for Monday, March 12
The Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life has scheduled a memorial service for Elizabeth J. Cronin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2001, in Sayles Hall. In addition, the offices of Student Life and Psychological Services will host a discussion group at noon Friday, March 9, in North Wayland Lounge.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life will lead a memorial service for Elizabeth J. Cronin at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2001, in Sayles Hall on the College Green.
Ms. Cronin, a Brown senior from Kirkland, Wash., was found dead in her East Side apartment on Friday. The Rhode Island medical examiner has not yet determined the cause of her death, but Brown Police reported no evidence of foul play.
Psychological Services and the Office of Student Life have scheduled a meeting for any students who wish to talk about their reactions to Ms. Cronin’s death. That meeting, to be hosted by Dean Carla Hansen of Student Life and Kent Yrchik-Shoemaker of Psychological Services, will begin at noon Friday, March 9, in North Wayland Lounge.
“The University is shocked and deeply saddened by this news,” said Interim President Sheila E. Blumstein, speaking early Friday evening. “Our hearts go out to Elizabeth’s parents, her siblings, and her friends here on campus. On behalf of the campus community, I wish to express our condolences and to assure all who are touched by this tragedy of the University’s support during this difficult time.”
