PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Six faculty members are the first recipients of the President’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Governance. This new award was developed by the Faculty Executive Committee in collaboration with President Ruth J. Simmons to recognize faculty who have made outstanding contributions to the University through their distinguished service on faculty committees, councils and advisory boards. The inaugural honorees are:
The recipients will be honored at a dinner this semester and will receive $2,000 research stipends. A subcommittee of the Committee on Nominations was appointed to identify and select candidates for the President’s Award. Professor Evelyn Hu-Dehart chaired the selection committee; additional members were Professors Andrea Simmons, Peter Gromet and Hye-Sook Wang. ###### | |||
