From Martha Mitchell’s Encyclopedia Brunoniana:
Ishmael, a literary periodical containing fiction, poetry, and graphics was first published by Big Fish Productions in the spring of 1971. In the next semester it was superseded by a new series of the same title, published by the Brown Literary Board. Volume 2, appearing in 1972-73, was identified as “the cooperative literary-arts magazine of Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design.” Volume 2, Number 2 was an exclusively photographic issue. Ishmael continued publication until 1980.
