Credit for Internships

Any internship taken abroad must be accompanied a specific academic component (such as lectures, seminars, or labs) to be approved for graduation credit by the Office of International Programs.

An internship taken abroad that has no accompanying academic component will not be approved for graduation credit by the Office of International Programs, even if it is approved by a faculty advisor.   An internship of this variety, however, may certainly be taken for no graduation credit but in addition to your full courseload.

If you are already abroad and decide to take an internship course, email the course description to both your faculty advisor and the OIP.   An internship will be counted as part of your full courseload abroad only if it is pre-approved by email by both the OIP and the faculty advisor.   The OIP will under no circumstances consider retroactive approval for an internship that you have already completed abroad, or one that is in progress.
