The University of the West Indies (UWI) is a regional university that serves the English-speaking Caribbean, a geographically scattered, economically and politically diverse area from Jamaica to Belize. The university plays a critical role in the process of regional development and integration in the Caribbean. UWI has three campuses, each of which specializes in certain fields of study. Brown's program takes place at the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados.
Brown students fully enroll at the Cave Hill campus and have the rare opportunity to directly view change in the Caribbean. The university serves 15 different countries in the West Indies, and the campus has a rich and vibrant atmosphere reflecting the variety of cultural and social backgrounds in the student body.
Brown in Barbados Brown in Barbados is an exchange program, which enables graduate students and/or faculty from the University of the West Indies to come to Brown each year. The University of the West Indies combines academically challenging programs with a beautiful Caribbean setting and a focus on regional issues.
