Brown in Denmark - Academics
Curriculum
Brown students are required to take five DIS courses per semester, including one course in Danish language. Danish language is offered at beginning and intermediate levels.
DIS coursework typically focuses on contemporary political or social topics in Denmark, Scandinavia, or the rest of Europe. Courses can be found in Liberal Arts, International Business Studies, Marine Biology, Pre-medical Studies, and Architecture and Design Studies.
All courses are taught in English by Danish professors. DIS professors are either Danish professionals employed in government, research institutions or industry, or Danish faculty holding full-time positions at institutions such as the University of Copenhagen, The Copenhagen Business School, or the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and School of Architecture.
DIS cooperates closely with student organizations at the University of Copenhagen, helping to integrate DIS students with Danish students through campus clubs, joint academic projects and social events.

Credit
Students receive a Brown transcript listing S (Satisfactory) for the courses they successfully complete with the equivalent grade of C- or better. The normal course load of five courses per semester will grant four Brown credits. The OIP keeps a copy of the DIS transcript on file, and students can request copies for graduate and professional school applications.
