Admission Requirements
Minimum Requirement: GRMN 0500 (or the equivalent of five semesters of college level German) with a B or better. The Tübingen and Berlin programs are open to undergraduate students from Brown and other institutions.
Students with only GRMN 0300 (or the equivalent of three semesters of college level German) may enroll in Brown in Berlin by attending a pre-semester intensive language program. Students who choose this option are required to complete GRMN 0450, taught in Berlin, beginning in February. If interested, please notify the OIP as soon as possible because availability of this option is dependent on sufficient enrollment. Additional charges apply for this course, and students will be responsible for four weeks of additional housing and meals. Please note that while completion of GRMN 0450 will be recorded on the Brown transcript, it will not count toward Brown’s tuition unit requirement for graduation.
Application Deadlines
Participants may enroll in either semester or for the full year. However, the fall option does not allow return to Brown in time for the spring semester because the German semester ends in February. For Brown students, fall semester study can be combined with a noncredit, paid internship during the spring.
