Brown in Japan - Housing

Keio University does not have its own dormitories either on or off campus. The International Center at Keio University assists foreign students in finding suitable housing and supplies the students with extensive written information about housing. Students are required to complete a detailed questionnaire regarding their housing needs and preferences. There are opportunities for apartments and privately owned student dormitories. The university provides housing for all incoming exchange students which includes financial support for rent and utilities. Students also have the option of staying in an apartment. Meals are usually cooked by the students, but are not included in the tuition cost, and students should budget accordingly.

At the Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies, students choose between a family stay option or nearby KCJS dormitories. KCJS costs include charges for tuition costs, orientation, sponsored field trips, and the services of the Kyoto Center. Transportation to and from KCJS, costs associated with housing and meals, the purchase of a health insurance policy with international coverage, travel during breaks, books, and all other personal expenses are the student's responsibility.

Ammenities

There is a café on campus but meals are fairly repetitive with the same items being served at lunch and dinner. Students usually prefer to cook their own meals in the dorms and eat occasionally in the café, paying for one meal at a time.
