Program Staff

Brown Faculty Director: Lina Fruzzetti

Professor Fruzzetti’s extensive work in Social Anthropology has taken her to Dar es Salaam on countless occasions to conduct research, teach, and liaise with faculty and staff at the University. Through close collaboration with faculty and administrators, she has chosen the Brown in Tanzania curriculum based on the strength and relevance of the course content and quality of instruction. Onsite Coordinator: Leah Omari

Leah works part-time for the program. She coordinates a cultural orientation for students, does liaison work with the university and the housing office, provides excursions, and gives support and general advising while students are on site. She acts as a cultural guide for students, and provides help in case of illness or other difficulties.

Onsite Academic Director: Amandina Lihamba

In addition to Leah, Brown in Tanzania students will benefit from the assistance of an Academic Director to ensure that their academic needs are met smoothly and promptly. Amandina Lihamba is a professor of Performing Arts at the University of Dar es Salaam where she has held numerous academic and administrative positions in the past. She is currently the Director of Public Service in charge of Continuing Education, Consultancy, Corporate Marketing, Outreach, and academic collaboration with other institutions. Prior to this, she has been the Dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences and the head of the department of Fine and Performing Arts. She is currently a director or member of several NGOs and other local institutions.
