As you begin your internship or job search:
Your timeline will vary depending on the career field of interest. Many non-profits and other types of organizations do not know of their hiring needs until later in the year.
Register and/or update your profile on Brown JobLink- the primary source for job and internship postings. If you are not registered, go to our website and register today.
Read your weekly e-Newsletters from the Career Development Center for the latest information on workshops, information sessions, internships, special events and more.
Visit our Career Library and begin researching fields of interest.
Download a tip sheet from our website on: resume writing, interviewing, applying to graduate school, internship resources, etc.
Take time to polish your resume.
See us for resume critique during walk-in hours.
Attend an internship, job search, or interviewing workshop.
Find out which employers are coming to campus, learn about policies, and procedures, find out about internships, and get a jump start on your individual search. We want you to do your best, and that means knowing how to use our services, and understanding what employers are looking for.
Some (but certainly not all) organizations have early application deadlines. Monitor our online calendars from for important information on application procedures and deadlines.
Employer Information Sessions and campus interviews start early in the semester. Do your research and check the online calendar regularly.
Schedule a practice interview when you arrive back on campus.
Mark your calendar for our on-campus Career Fairs. These "showcase events" will provide an opportunity to meet employers from a wide variety of fields. It's a great opportunity for career exploration and networking.
