VOLUNTEER WITH FRIENDS OF FOREIGN VISITORS

Often times, fear of the unknown keeps us all from experiencing new people and things. Just think of how you felt when you were thousands of miles away from home. People the world over have similar wants and needs, including the exchange students who come to Brown.

Exchange Students

  • Exchange students come from Brown’s partner institutions around the world.
  • These students stay for varying lengths of time - a few weeks, one semester, or a full academic year.
  • Visiting students attend Brown as either fully matriculated undergraduates or as graduates conducting research.

Role of Friends of Foreign Visitors

  • Act as a resource for the exchange student.
  • Advise the exchange student about shopping, restaurants and entertainment in the area.
  • Include the exchange student in activities throughout the semester (e.g. plays, student parties, study breaks, etc.).
  • Assist with both short-term and long-term visitors.
